Release of "The very long walk" and what it is

Why did you make "The very long walk"?
Greetings! Maybe some of you know that Construct 3 (C3), the latest version of the game creation engine I use, is currently in beta.
I created this little mini game to test the new GUI and features coming with C3.  It helped to find several bugs of which most are already fixed in the latest build and allowed me to see if it's worth the yearly subscription fee (Construct 2 was a one time purchase without extra costs).

As owner of C2 I will get a 50% discount for the first year and I will try it and hope I can finish some bigger projects to get some donations or sales to afford the annual fee of C3. I will also try to stream some game development on Mixer (Beam) in the future to let anyone interested watch how a game is built in C3.

 

What's it about?
"The very long walk" is an endless runner game where you can choose one of 5 playable characters and unlock hats for them to wear. Just play it a few times to accumulate points to unlock them.

 

Is it free?
Of course! It's free to download and play (see the Credits in game for more info) and it has no microtransactions of any sort. ;)
But donations are always welcome and help me to fund the annual fee for Construct 3 to make more games and apps.

Early Access: Sea Frenzy

Sea Frenzy

I am currently working on a new game called "Sea Frenzy".

The game started as very small project to practice some new things in Construct 2 but gradually grew as the "feature creep" (tm?) started to haunt me.
But I have a list of features and things to add for the final release. If everything goes well future updates may add more content after the final release.

A Devlog with regular updates is available on Game Jolt.

 

Sea Frenzy is a small action game where you are a small fish in the ocean. What do you do? You need to feed and survive!

Features in this early version:

  • eat and grow to swallow even bigger fish!
  • one event where you need to dodge enemy fish
  • leaderboards to see who is the best fish in the ocean

Features coming in future updates:

 

  • multiple randomized events and bosses
  • achievements, who doesn't love trophies?!
  • controller support - or did someone already invent the transparent finger?
  • progression system to unlock new goodies for your fish

Release: Antares für Master of Orion

Antares

Seit einigen Tagen befindet sich das neue Master of Orion im Early Access auf Steam und wir haben ein kleines Tool dafür gemacht mit dem Ihr versteckte Einstellungen aktivieren könnt.

 

Im Moment ist das Spiel auf Englisch und Russisch verfügbar, aber mit unserem Tool könnt Ihr bereits jetzt viele andere Sprachen*, die bereits im Spiel enthalten sind, verwenden.

 

*Die Übersetzungen sind noch nicht vollständig aber ein Großteil der Oberfläche ist schon in vielen Sprachen verfügbar.

In Entwicklung: The Division Companion App

Seit gestern arbeiten wir an einer neuen App für das im März 2016 erscheinende Spiel The Division von Ubisoft.

Mit der App soll es leichter werden andere Spieler zu finden und Informationen über das Spiel zu erhalten.

 

Da wir gerade erst begonnen haben wird es noch eine Weile dauern bis die App einsatzbereit ist. Eine sehr frühe Alpha Version könnt Ihr aber bereits jetzt online ausprobieren. Besucht dazu einfach http://division.bl4cksh33p.de. Es sollte auf den meisten Geräten und Browsern funktionieren.

Neue App: Begleiter für ESO

Seit heute ist die erste Alpha-Version unserer neuen App verfügbar. Im Begleiter für The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited (ESO) findet Ihr viele nützliche Dinge und Ihr könnt sie auf eurer Xbox direkt über den Internet Explorer neben dem Spiel andocken. Da es noch eine sehr frühe Version ist können noch Fehler auftauchen und viele Inhalte sind noch nicht enthalten. Update des GalCiv3 Begleiters

Seit heute gibt es v1.0 unseres Galactic Civilizations III Begleiters mit vielen Verbesserungen und neuen Features. In den nächsten Tagen und Wochen werden wir weiter an der App arbeiten und neue Funktionen und vor allem auch neue Inhalte hinzufügen.

Unsere erste App im Windows Store

Galactic Civilizations III Begleiter

Wir haben heute unsere allererste App im Windows Store veröffentlicht. Es handelt sich dabei um den "Galactic Civilizations III Begleiter", einer App mit Infos über das bald erscheinende 4X-Strategiespiel von Stardock.

 

Der GalCiv3 Begleiter befindet sich derzeit noch in der Betaphase und es fehlen noch einige Inhalte. Bisher findet Ihr folgendes:

  • Neuigkeiten zum Spiel, offizielle Ankündigungen und Dev Streams (mit Videos)
  • Datenbankeinträge für alle derzeit verfügbaren Völker (weitere Hintergrundinformationen folgen mit künftigen Updates)

Unsere Webseite lernt deutsch

Herzlich willkommen auf unserer überarbeiteten Webseite. Wir testen derzeit die neue Beta Version von Jimdo 2.0 und haben nun auch endlich eine deutsche Webseite für alle deutschsprachigen Besucher eingerichtet. Im Moment sind noch nicht alle Inhalte übersetzt aber in den nächsten Tagen wird sich das noch ändern.

Da es sich noch nicht um die finale Version handelt könnten noch vereinzelt Fehler auftreten. Solltet Ihr Fehler auf unserer Webseite finden wäre es toll, wenn Ihr uns eine kurze Email mit einer Fehlerbeschreibung senden würdet (am besten mit Screenshot): support@bl4cksh33p.de


Derzeit gibt es folgende bereits bekannte Probleme:

  • Der Text von Textfeldern ist weiß auf weißem Hintergrund
  • Einige Elemente wie der Warenkorb im Shop und Kommentare können derzeit leider noch nicht mehrsprachig sein.

Our website learns German

Welcome to our revised website. We are currently testing the new beta version of Jimdo 2.0 and have finally established a German website for all German-speaking visitors. At the moment, not all content is translated but in the next few days that will change. 

Since this is not the final version occasionally errors may occur. Should you find any mistakes on our website it would be great if you could send us a short email with a description (preferably with screenshot): support@bl4cksh33p.de 

 

Currently the following issues are known: 

  • The text of text boxes is white on a white background

New Game in Development: Lunar Catch

We are happy to announce that we are working on a new game called "Lunar Catch".

It is an Action/Ball and paddle game inspired by the classical game "Pong" but it has some new twists like multiple characters with unique abilities and talents. You may already know some of them like the evil Moon Raccoon or the brave Corgi General from our past game "Moon Raccoon".

 

There are currently three game modes planned: Singleplayer, Multiplayer (1vs1) and Co-op Multiplayer (2vs2). But not all features are fleshed out yet, and we are still in an early pre-alpha stage. If you are interested in alpha- or betatesting our new game you can sign the form on this page and help us with your feedback.

Release: ESO Research Assistant v1.2

We have just finished the next update for ESO Research Assistant (ESORA) to v1.2.

 

To improve the overall appearance some buttons were changed to icons and moved to the top and the left side of the app. New settings allow you to enable or disable sound notifications and color-coded countdowns.

 

The full changelog:

v1.2

  • changed button style and moved them from bottom to top
  • added Settings screen
    • added option to enable/disable sound notification
    • added option to enable/disable color-coded countdowns
  • added some achievements (just for fun)
  • started to work on support for multiple char profiles
    (will be available in an upcoming version)

 

ESORA is available on clay.io for $0.99 (about 0,72€) and runs on desktops, tablets and mobile phones.

Preview: ESO Research Assistant v1.2

We are currently working on the next update v1.2 for ESO Research Assistant (ESORA).

Our latest app tracks research and feeding times for The Elder Scrolls Online. It seems there are some problems with approving apps on clay.io right now but we hope it can be sorted out soon.

 

The changes so far:

  • we changed the style of the buttons at the bottom and moved them to the top of the app window
  • we added a new settings screen to:
    • enable/disable sound notifications
    • enable/disable color coded countdowns (not done yet)
  • we added some achievements (just for fun)
  • we started to work on support for multiple char profiles (available in another upcoming update)

ESORA is currently available for only $0.99 (about 0,72€) and includes free feature updates and support. Additional char profiles might be available as In-App Purchase (IAP) in an upcoming version.

Possible new way to publish for Android: Crosswalk

The latest beta build of Construct 2 added support for Crosswalk, a possible new way to publish our games for Android. It's a Chromium-based app engine and has some advantages over wrappers:

 

  • WebGL support (which Crosswalk enables for all devices)
  • Memory management so large games keep running smoothly and don't crash
  • Fast startup times
  • Letterbox fullscreen modes supported
  • Web Audio API support for reliable audio playback and advanced audio effects
  • Web Workers for faster pathfinding
  • Latest JIT-capable V8 Javascript engine for native-like physics performance with asm.js
  • Full DOM support: all form controls work; support for web-based services like the Facebook plugin and Clay.io
  • Support for XML parsing
  • Support for web fonts
  • Regular updates to bring the latest new technologies and performance improvements as they arrive to Chrome

And Intel is providing the build service for free!

 

There may be some issues to resolve before it's ready for publishing, but once those are fixed it should no longer be necessary to use any non-browser wrappers on Android any more. We will try Crosswalk after the holidays and use it to publish our games for Android if it works well.

Release of our first mobile game: Bauble Disaster

Our first mobile* casual game Bauble Disaster has been released today!

 

Bauble Disaster features a global Highscore list, unique Achievements and a selection of great and well known christmas songs performed by Kevin MacLeod.

The game is available for mobile devices (awaiting approval) and can be bought in our shop for Windows, MAC and Linux systems.

 

This time we decided to sell our game for a small amount instead of giving it away for free or just accepting donations. All sales will help to realise our new projects. The price is 0,59 EUR or US $0,79.

 

*Unfortunately we ran into some issues and can not yet support native iOS and Android apps, but it should run well on newer devices. An upcoming free update will include additional songs and a music player. Read more about it in our development blog.

Issues with native apps for iOS and Android

CocoonJS is a great service from Ludei to create native apps for iOS and Android. But when we compiled our first builds of Bauble Disaster we ran into some serious issues:

  • Some actions were not working as expected or working at all on Android
  • The signed .apk file did not install properly despite all tools ran successfully on it (signing, zipalign)

And we can not build for iOS until we get an Apple Dev Account for $99/year.

We will try to resolve these issues but unfortunately can not tell when we will be able to publish native apps. But the game should run well as HTML5 app in the browser on newer devices.

 

Since christmas is almost upon us we decided to release the game now and try to publish a native Android version in the future. A free update containing additional songs and a music player will be available soon.

Progress on Bauble Disaster

We are making good progress on Bauble Disaster. We fixed most of the initial problems and the core game mechanics are done. Only the Clay.io implementation for global highscores is not working properly, yet. Because christmas is coming closer every day it seems we have to delay some features like the music player - a seperate part of the game where you can listen to great christmas music from Kevin MacLeod. This and any other features that we need to delay will be available in a free update for the game. 

 

A few new background images were added today and we tried to create our first Android package with CocoonJS from Ludei to improve performance on Android devices. Unfortunately we have no Android devices to test everything and we had to borrow a tablet from someone. We ran into some issues and hope to be able to solve them tomorrow.

If you are interested in betatesting and have an Android device we would be happy to hear from you. Just fill out our betatester application form.

 

Since we have no Apple developer account yet we can only publish our games and apps as installed HTML app and not as a native iOS application, which would boost performance significantly.

We will have to see how well our first mobile game runs on different devices when it runs as HTML app. If your iOS or Android device is not older than one or two years it should run very smoothly even without a native app. If no unforeseen problems occur we should be able to release Bauble Disaster in a few days.

Working on two new Projects

Hello everyone! We are working on two new projects right now.

One is a holiday themed casual game called "Bauble Disaster", the other is a Shooter/ Simulation mix. Both will be released for mobile devices (iOS/Android) and PC/MAC.

 

"Bauble Disaster" was a spontaneus idea today and there will be more details about it on the game page very soon. The other project will take a longer time to finish because it is still in the pre-alpha and planning stage.

Release: Moon Raccoon

Our very first minigame "Moon Raccoon" is finished and can be played on clay.io now.

 

Moon Raccoon is a Shoot 'em up and the successor of the fun app "Raccoon Launcher". You play as commander of the Corgi army and have to stop the invasion of Raccoons from the moon.

If you fail your best friend, humanity, will be destroyed!

 

It was created after a funny comment in the CubeWorld.org forum.

If you create an account on clay.io you can unlock achievements and compare your highscore against other players.

Moon Raccoon Soundtrack jetzt verfügbar!

Es sind insgesamt sechs Stücke von drei Komponisten, die ihre Werke freundlicherweise zur nicht gewerblichen Nutzung zur Verfügung gestellt haben.

Wir sind eine kleine und unabhängige (Indie) Softwareschmiede, die Anwendungen für Windows und künftig auch Spiele für verschiedenste Plattformen entwickeln wird.

 

Unser Team besteht derzeit nur aus einer Teilzeitkraft und einem vollzeit Mitglied. Für künftige Projekte werden wir entsprechende Jobangebote auf unserer Seite veröffentlichen.

 

In unserem Portfolio befinden sich derzeit zwei Launcher für die beliebten Spiele World of Warcraft und Cube World. Demnächst wird auch unser erstes Mini-Spiel für mehrere Plattformen erscheinen. Näheres dazu folgt bald.
